About Jan
Originally from Germany, Jan has spent over 15 years in Asia (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Bangkok). He is a seasoned expert in communication and marketing and has had local, regional and global roles in both international 4A agencies as well as on the client side (Global Media Investment Director at Huawei, Global Media Director at OPPO, Regional Director for Brand Media and Performance at foodpanda).
Passionate about insights, creativity, analytics, strategy and innovation and specializes in driving measurable business results through strategic campaigns and effective leadership. Jan successfully developed and implemented holistic data driven campaigns for world leading brands of various industries throughout China, Asia Pacific and Western Europe.
Jan is fluent in English, German, conversational in Mandarin Chinese and equipped with an MBA from Manchester Business School. As a respected industry expert, Jan is a regular industry panelist and judge for distinguished global, regional and local and marketing awards.

Ever had a dream you couldn’t escape?
As a young boy raised in Germany, I always felt there was more to life than what I had known. At 19, right after graduation, I packed my bags and moved to China—a decision that transformed my life. Beyond the challenge of learning to speak and write Mandarin, I embraced a completely new world in countless ways. Each challenge became an opportunity to grow, and I quickly transitioned from an intern to Global Media Director for Chinese tech giants.
Now, as I continue to balance the roles of parent and entrepreneur, I'm constantly reminded of the invaluable lessons in humility and lifelong learning. Running a business is a dynamic journey filled with exciting opportunities and constant growth. By sharing my experiences, I hope to inspire others to take bold steps in their own paths.
